The Bill
Want to change Politics? The solution is to Change the Law.
Asking politicians for changes is like talking to a wall – with one exception. The wall will not give you a bullshit answer. But it gets worse. Politicians write our everyday laws. So, even if political activists survive the bullshit, and convince our politicians to change a law for the public good – it can be changed back, after the heat dies down. Dreams never die, but politicians can continually defeat them.
The one law that politicians cannot easily change is the constitution.
Changing the Constitution involves wide open inspection by the media, all politicians, and political action groups. There can be no bullshit. Thus, only the purest of thoughts, and the best of intentions, make it into this final round.
So, the Twenty-first Century Reform Bill is going to start at the constitutional level – with the purest of thoughts, and the best of intentions.
The Twenty-first Century Reform Bill is only one sentence long. It reads:
“WHEREAS Canadians are worthy of receiving additional democratic rights;
THEREFORE, the Constitution of Canada shall be read with the Addition, as such Addition shall appear in the Appendix of this Act.”
God help any politician who declares that we do not need any additional democratic rights!
Moreover, these additional rights are restricted to the basic necessities of life. Then, God can also help any politician who declares that we don’t need them all – that we should still have the working poor – who cannot afford nourishing food for their families. and higher education for their kids.
